Located in the center of Shushi city. Description
The fountain was built in 1900 in memory of Tadevos Tamiryants, an honorable citizen of Shushi.
It is a rectangular building that was originally covered with a metal pyramidal roof. The fountain basin and its three spouts are located on the northern side, facing the intersection.
On the upper left and right parts of the northern wall are inscriptions in Armenian and Russian:
Armenian inscription:
«Այս ջուրը բերուած է | ի յիշատակ պատվարժան | քաղաքացի Թադէոս | Թամիրէանցի։ Ք(աղաք) Շուշի 1900»
(“This water is brought | in memory of the honorable | citizen Tadēos Tamirēantsʻ. | City of Shushi, 1900.”)
Russian inscription:
"Вечная память почтен|ному гражданину г(ородa) Шуши |Твдевосу Тамирянцу, 1900."
(“Eternal memory to the honorable citizen of the city of Shushi, Tadevos Tamiryants, 1900.”)
Between the two inscriptions is a carved cross tile with the inscription:
«Տ(ե)ր Ա(ստուա)ծ | Յ(իսու)ս Ք(րիստո)ս» (“Lord God | Jesus Christ”).
Azerbaijan has controlled the monument since November 2020.
Photographs and videos circulated online show that the structure has undergone Azerbaijani “renovation,” during which the roof was replaced, lanterns were added, and all the aforementioned inscriptions, cross relief, and other ornaments disappeared.
A new plaque on the fountain indicates only its status as an architectural monument and lists it under certification number 5165.
